He is survived by: his wife Sally; his family, Ardenwald and Milwaukie; his children, Tim, David, Pat McDonald and Teri Tuomi; his sisters, Marylou Compton and Shirley Brownback; and his extended family, Sandi Creel, Shannon Mattin, Cherie Wallace and Tom Wittfoth. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in Jim's name to the Milwaukie Lutheran Church.
