Irene Virginia Moore Obituary
Irene was called home to the Heavenly Father October 22, 2021. She was born February 16, 1952 in Selma, Alabama to Ollie Mae and Thomas Moore. She attended Tipton High School before moving to Portland, Oregon with her family in 1969. She loved the colors and crisp air of autumn. She was was always the life of the party, loved to dance, and had a punch line for every occasion. She was a proud and loyal member of Your Bible Speaks Community Seventh-day Adventist Church. She participated heavily as a member of the choir. She loved to sing, and swore she was soprano! She helped with church plays for adults and children. She was a devoted woman of Christ and her participation within the church community showed her commitment. Irene found her soulmate and married Edgar Matthews July 8, 2001 in a lovely backyard ceremony at her mother’s home. Later in life, she became the main caretaker for her mother, Ollie Mae, who she now joins in glory. Irene retired as a nurse from OHSU and took pride in sponsoring her child in another country.
Irene is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years Edgar Mathews. They have 2 children Marcus Moore and Edgar Jr. Their grandchildren are: Donald, Shasta, Marquesha, Devante, Chris, Judy, Janelle, Gayle, and Gary. Great grandchildren: Cara, Brayeleigh, Matthew, Messiah and Aleigha.
She will be sorely missed and survived by her siblings and their families; James and Yvonne Moore and family; Raymond, Jaelee, Raymond Jr., and Jasmine. Lionel, Issa and Tyson. Johnnie Mae and Abraham Barron and family; Makeda, Chris, Shakya, Alexcia, and Makaja. Margaret, Keith and his wife Lisa. Carrie Ann, Ronnie Giles, and Shayla.
In her passing, she joins her Father God and earthly parents.
