Viralma Black Obituary

We are sad to announce that on May 1, 2021, at the age of 79, Viralma Black in Milton Freewater, Oregon, born in Pendleton, Oregon passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ronald E. Tawes and Helen E. Tawes (Walker); and her husband Charles Black. She is survived by: her daughters, Lea VanHouten (John) of Pilot Rock and Dana Black (Craig); her grandchildren, JaDee VanHouten and Corey VanHouten (Ali) of Pilot Rock; and her great grandchildren, Carter of Pilot Rock, Tucker of Pilot Rock, Mason of Pilot Rock and Rietta of Pilot Rock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that those who wish may make memorial donations to either the Pilot Rock Little League or The Black Soxs Baseball Team.

“We are so sorry to see that Rusty passed away. I just now tried to call her and check in only to find her phone numbers weren't working. We spent many hours with her when we came down from Cheney to buy her Breyer Horses. We so enjoyed our time with her. She was a special person! Rich and Melaine Williams”

“I grew up across 7th Street in Pendleton from the Rusty. She was like my big sister. She often invited me to accompany her to Gibbon to care for her horses winter and summer. We sometimes "camped out" in the old house on the property. When she first met Charlie, I told her way back then that she was going to marry him. She told me I was crazy. Rusty taught me so much about life, fun, and caring for animals. I will always remember her with great fondness and love. Denny Cass”
