He was predeceased by: his son Kenneth Carter; his daughter-in-law Carolyn Carter; his parents, Julius Johnson and Olga Johnson; and his siblings, Carl Johnson, Beatrice Lundeen (Oscar), Janet Carlson (Bud) and Mildred Olson (Kermit).
He is survived by: his wife Judy; his brother Dennis Johnson; his children, Wayne Johnson (Julie), Laurie Busk (Chris), David Carter (Biyun), Kathryn Gundlach (Arron), Steven Carter (Gayle) and Kimberly Garcia; and his son-in-law Michael Garcia. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
