He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frank Kersting and Helena Kersting; his wife Ellen; his children, Joseph Kersting (Brandy), Marie Robinson (Chris) and Emily Hickey (Mitchell); his grandchildren, Alexander Jon, Hunter, Fiona, Melody, Sawyer and Cooper; and his sister Patricia Heikka.
