She was predeceased by: her parents, John Curtis James and Opal James (McHan); and her siblings, Winell James, Evelyn Mahaffy and Luther James.

She is survived by: her children, Jenice Armstrong of Marcola, OR, Lawrence Brown Jr., Debbi Brown of Metolius, OR, Bobby Brown and Kelly Amosson (Lawrence Brown Sr.) of Waverly, IA; her grandchildren, Richard Armstrong III, Lawrence Brown III, Brandie Freitas (David Freitas), John Brown and Amanda Armstrong; her great grandchildren, Myla and Ian; and her siblings, Dwight James, Henry James, George James and Mary Bradford of Alabama. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation to Marcola Church be made in Iris's name and honor.
