He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Armstrong and Hazel Armstrong; and his brother Robert Armstrong. He is survived by: his wife Frances Armstrong; his sister Patricia Green; and his sons, Douglas, Michael, Phillip and Daniel Armstrong. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
