He was predeceased by: his parents, James Nicholson and Edna Nicholson. He is survived by: his former wife Carol Nicholson; his children, Carrie Sharrer (John), Lisa Swenson (Christopher) and James Nicholson; his grandchildren, Jade Sharrer, Sierra Pelfrey (Toby) and Cassie Swenson; his siblings, Linda Grinstead (Bill) and Kay Zeaman; and his nephews, Paul Grinstead, Nathan Grinstead and Jason Zeaman.
