Bridgett I. Whelan Obituary
Bridgett Ilene Whelan of Hermiston was born May 27, 1967 in Pendleton the daughter of Donald and Colleen (Kilkenny) Greenup. She passed away in Hermiston on October 12, 2022 at the age of 55.
Bridgett grew up on a cattle and sheep ranch outside of Heppner, Oregon. She attended schools in Heppner and graduated from Heppner High School in the class of 1985. She was also the Queen of the Morrow County Fair & Rodeo in 1985. She then attended Blue Mountain Community College where she received her associates degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution and later at Two Rivers Correctional Institution. She retired from TRCI as the medical services manager in 2017. She then worked at the Eastern Oregon Detox Center for the past three years.
Bridgett loved her animals and enjoyed horseback riding and doing craft projects with her grandkids.
Bridgett married Michael "Mike" Whelan on August 26, 1995 in Stanfield, Oregon.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Hayden Blair, Laine Whelan, Joseph Whelan and Stephen Whelan; grandchildren, Alexis, Jaycob, Jordyn, Tommi and Brantlie; sisters, Tag (Mitch) Ashbeck, Maryann (Ted) Davis, Susan (Paul) Walton; brothers, Greg (Janet) Greenup and Bill (Cynthia) Greenup; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M.on Friday October 21, 2022 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel 685 W. Hermiston Ave Hermiston, OR. A reception will follow the service at Zeal Church in Hermiston.
