He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raphael Schaffner and Dorothy Schaffner (Wuerlinger); his children, Anthony Schaffner, Frederick Schaffner, Gregory Schaffner of Munich Germany, Patrick Schaffner (Teresa), Frank Schaffner, Julie Dodge, Catherine Hooper (Garth) and Pamela Maul; and his brother Leo Schaffner. He was also cherished by thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
