He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhard Julius Schwanke and Dorothea Margarethe "Dot" Schwanke (Dethlefs); his sister Margaret Schwanke; and his son Jeffery Gray Schwanke. He is survived by: his former wife Betty Jeane Powell; his son Jeff; his great-aunt Charlotte "Lot" Laughlin; his wife Shirley Schwanke of Forest Grove; his daughter-in-law Meghan Schwanke of American Fork, Utah.; his grandchildren, Garrett (Karli Schwanke), Sara (Steve Robison) and Katelyn (Matt Paskett); and his great grandchildren, Christopher, Garrett, Amy, Nicholas, Ian Robison, Juniper and Penelope Paskett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
