She was predeceased by: her sister Barbara Byhre; and her granddaughter Allison Ferris. She is survived by: her parents, Esther (Emerson) and Harding; her spouse Walter A. Ferris; her children, Doernbecher, Mark Ferris and Scott Ferris (Linda); and her grandchildren, Emily Rousseau (Alan), Tyson (Kara), Jeff, Chase (Jessica) and Kirk Ferris. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Albertina Kerr Centers (http://www.albertinakerr.org) or another of the charities served by Dottie during her lifetime of kindness and giving.
