Ray McCann Obituary
Sadly, Ray McCann (Eugene, Oregon) passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ray McCann to pay them a last tribute.
Mother" These were the words sent via Western Union telegram that announced the arrival of Ray Body McCann into the world on February 7, 1944. In the 74 years since, Ray lived a full life. He served in the Army, worked decades in the forestry industry, owned a small trucking company, and worked for Lane Transit District. He married, raised two boys, and made loyal friends. He raced (and repaired) stockcars and go-karts, rode (and documented) countless miles on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and would drop it all to help a friend or neighbor paint a fence or build a barn (and refuse thanks). Ray was diagnosed with cancer early in 2018 and fought it with hallmark stoicism while still delighting in impishly defying nurses, friends, and families attempts to help. In his typical way, he quietly made his way from this world with loved ones nearby. Survived by sons Mitch and Mark, granddaughter Marlie, siblings Charles and Marilyn, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. A graveside service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene on Saturday at 3pm. A casual gathering of friends will be held at Gatehouse Pizza around 4pm. Donations to your local Fallen Soldier fund are suggested in lieu of flowers.
