He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Cates (Lydia Cates) and Lydia Cates. He is survived by: his wife Ann Cates; his daughters, Heather Cates (Tamal Riedman) of Eugene, OR, Ashley Cates (Jake Fusilier) of Eugene, OR and Jennifer Cates of Eugene, OR; his grandchildren, Valerie and Parker; and his siblings, Michael Cates (Shelley) of Windsor, CO, Maureen Florita (Dave) of Cheyenne, Jeanne Van Risseghem (Bob) of Cheyenne, Steve Cates of Cheyenne and Kevin Cates (Teryl) of Cheyenne. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
