He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Marie Hedin; and his siblings, Thelma, Lloyd and Betty. He is survived by: his children, Donna Jo Miller, Paul (Denise) and Mark (Angela). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He has been an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church since 1963, serving in many leadership roles including president of the council and a member of the Foundation since its inception in 1967.
