He was predeceased by: his parents, Smiley Moss Ragan Jr. and Patricia Ragan; his sister Kimberly; and his father-in-law Victor Nichols. He is survived by: his spouse Leslie Ragan; his sons, John, Matthew, Thomas and Mark; his sister Sharon Walstrom (Doug); his mother-in-law Peggy Nichols; his brother-in-law Bill Nichols (Jeni); and his nieces and nephews, Chris, Sarah, Erik, Austin, Mackenzie, Wade, Jill, Nathan Carpenter, Tom and Vicki Jackson.

Mark was a man of remarkable selflessness, evident even in his final act through organ donation, which touched many lives and was honored by the Corvallis Fire Department with an Honor Walk, Portland Fire Department staged to greet Mark as he arrived at the Donor hospital.
