He was predeceased by: his wife Rosario Sabido; his son Edwardo Abella; and his brother Urbano. He is survived by: his children, Rosalinda (Mark Abella), Rose Marie Cabras, Edelberto Jr. (Marriam Abella), Rowane (Rolando Pelicano), Rona (Ronald Vergara), Robert (Mary Anne Abella), Roderick "Brix" (Evangeline Abella), Jacinto Abella and Edmund (Mary Jane Abella); and his siblings, Norma, Ceilya and Sergio.
