He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia "Patti" Smith; and his former wife Sharon Andersen. He is survived by: his brothers, Curtis and Albert Smith; his children, Melanie Smith of Corbett, Jeffrey Smith (Cindy) of Corbett and Valerie Davis (Jay) of Corbett; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jenna, Connor Smith, Kylie Pomante, Tanner Davis and Mackenzie Ann White; his great grandchildren, Evelyn, Avery and Parker; his stepson Chad Marmolejo (Amber); his stepgrandchildren, Iris and Paige; and his stepdaughter Shannon Marmolejo.
