He was predeceased by: his father Dale Barringer; and his stepfather Rodney King. He is survived by: his wife Geri Engberg Barringer; his sons, James Barringer (Virginia), Dale Barringer (Phoenix), Christopher Barringer (Samantha) and Ben Barringer; his grandchildren, Felicia, Jimmy, Mckenzie, Raya and Knox; his mother Carolyn King; his stepmother Terry Barringer; and his sisters, Cheryl Akers (Frank), Cherie Fresonke (Keith), Lori Collins (Mark) and Sheri Snyder. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Contributions in memory of James W Barringer may be made to the New Beginnings Building Fund.
