It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lars Magnusson Aamodt (Canby, Oregon), born in Mist, Oregon, who passed away on August 25, 2021, at the age of 98, He is survived by his wife Elaine Aamodt/Graham, son Peter, daughter Katherine, stepchildren Randy and Julie, nephews Doug and Steve and extended family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4th 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Zoar Lutheran Church (190 Southwest 3rd Avenue, Canby, Oregon 97013). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 4th 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Miller Cemetery (7823 Oregon 213, Silverton, Oregon 97381).
His Father immigrated from Norway, in 1889. He was the youngest of 4 boys an 2 girls to be born in Mist Oregon, on November 7th 1922. In 1930 the family moved to Hubbard Oregon, merging farms with an uncle. He attended Ninety One grade school, when it was still a one room school located at Barlow and Barnards. Graduating from Canby Union Highschool in 1940, a member of the FFA. In 1942 he traveled to Chicago to be trained as a certified welder at Forney. After his brother Lauritz was killed at the Portland Keiser Shipyards, he returned home to the farm. A lifetime of involvement with Zoar Lutheran Church. A member of the Nighty One School Board for 12 yrs. One of the Founding Members and Board of Directors of Hope Village. Involved with the Highschool Boosters with Construction and Maintaince issues. Involved with Mist Oregon Pioneer Historical Events. Always a welcoming smile, a willingness to help out various volunteer projects.
