He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Thissell and Grace Thissell; and his siblings, Clyde, Walt, Glen, Bill, Don and Linda.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly June Gillett; his children, Sharon Mayfield (Steve) and LeRoy Thissell; his grandchildren, Brian Mayfield and Amy Strong; and his great grandchildren, Austin Strong, Jacob Strong, Sydney Mayfield and Isaac Mayfield. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.
