He was predeceased by: his wife Judith. He is survived by: his children, Spangler, Cheri Goude, Renee Griggs, John Gaines and Tresa Basey; and his brother Russell Gaines. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Harney County Hospice and Home Health.
