He was predeceased by: his parents, George Rau and Katherine Rau (Schimpf); and his brothers, Fred, Hank, Wally and Manny Rau.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Rau of Baker City, Oregon; his daughter Janie Shetler; his son-in-law Robin Shetler; his grandsons, Andrew and Mark; his son George Rau; his daughter-in-law Jody Rau; and his grandchildren, Mikayla and Jorgie.
