He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Lampi and Fannie Lampi (Erickson); his wife Marie DeGandi; his daughters, Judith Lampi (Heidi), Janet Marambe (Arthur) of Portland and Jody Longo (James) of Portland; his grandparents, Andrew Lampi, Hilma Lampi (Puutio), Clark of Oregon, Thomas Erickson and Alexandra Erickson (Niemi); his daughter Judi; his grandchildren, Kenneth, Sarah, Cole, Adam and Emma; his great grandchildren, Kayah, Riley, Chloe and Malia; and his siblings, Virginia Shepherd and Clifford Lampi. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin was active in various community organizations and donated his time accordingly, one of his favorites being the Knappa Food Pantry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melvin's name to the Knappa Food Pantry, C/O Kathy Ray, 92733 Fir Road, Astoria, OR 97103.
