He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his brother Robert Birkby; and his parents, Lucretia Isabel Carter Birkby and Lawrence Virgenice "Shorty" Birkby. He is survived by: his daughters, Lakewood, Milwaukie, Virginia Birkby, Jackie Dochow, Debra Birkby and Paul Dochow; his sister Ruthella Birkby Barnard; his grandchildren, Hillary Dochow, Mark Dochow and Jolene Pauker; and his great grandchildren, Victoria Dochow, Linkin Dochow and Colton Pauker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
