He was predeceased by: his parents, Leopoldo Avitia and Rosie Melero (Guerra); his brother Leopoldo Melero Jr.; and his nephew Leopoldo Melero III. He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth Melero (Rothengass) of Keizer; his children, Brock Melero (Cathy) of Brownsville, Heather Melero of Salem, Susan Melero of Corvallis, Steven Mast (Julie) of West Linn and Madeline Keating of Keizer; and his grandchildren, Annika Melero, Morgan Melero, Brogan Melero and Hannah Bennett.
