He is survived by: his wife Daphine Karns of Albany; his children, Deanna Hart of Scio and Michael Karns of Albany; and his sister Joyce Burnside of Pensacola, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

“Lee was about 6 years ahead of me but he was always interesting, friendly and kind. I remember when his bike broke down on his paper route and he came by his Burks cousins to borrow one of theirs. Several years later when I had a paper route of my own I was at his house trying to figure out how to pay tithe on an odd numbered money collection. He told me, “This is what I do. I round it off.” What a revolutionary idea! Also he looked pretty sharp in his military uniform. Garry Burks”
