He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony "Dick" Gappa and Ruby Jester Gappa; his wife Janice Olson; and his sister Helen Gappa Bowden. He is survived by: his daughters, Jacquie Bratcher (Greg) of Yukon, OK and Stacy Penland (Mike) of Yukon; his brother Bob Gappa (Selma) of Eugene, OR; his grandchildren, Matthew Kelley, Thomas Bailey (Macee), Lauren De Leon (Cristofer), Brandon Penland and Cassidy Stewart; his great grandchildren, Amelia and Elliott Bailey; and his cousin Steve Jester (Renee). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or The Center of Family Love in Okarche.
