He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena Johnson (Callahan) and Ernest Johnson; his wife Kathryn Delores Johnson (Milton); and his siblings, Betty Johnson, Mildred Kendrick, Christine Scribner, Roy Johnson and Herman Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Sgt. Stephen Johnson (Reneigh) of The Woodlands, Texas and Cynthia Jeffries (Tony) of Yukon, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Zachary Johnson (Ashlyn), McKenzie Fortine (Bryan), John Erick Rose, Todd Collier (Kayla) and Garrett Rose; his great grandchildren, Eli Rose, Montgomery Rose, Kingston Rose, Bentley Collier, Julien Fortine and Lillian Fortine; and his sister Sandra Van Zandt of Fallbrook, CA. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
