He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ballard and Bertha Ballard; his wife Lucille Ballard; his siblings, Leslie, Ulyss, Leroy, John Lee Jr., Jimmy, Violet McGehee, Bernadean Freeman, Lottie Ross and Sue Holloway; and his sons-in-law, Walter Porterfield, Steve Estes and Joe Buben.
He is survived by: his sister Rozella Bailey; his children, Linda Buben, Peggy Porterfield, Glenn Ballard (Gerri) and Doris Beshears (Kim); and his grandchildren, Tracy Dunn, Tammy Walker (Scott), Eric Porterfield (Crystal), Angela Porterfield, Zack Porterfield (Andrea), Amber Lowe (Travis), Greg Ballard, Gaylene Ballard, Kelly Sparks (Jody), Chris Beshears (Tammy) and Jake Beshears (Kristina). He is also survived by many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
