He was predeceased by: his parents, John Appel and Frances Appel; his grandparents, Ludwig, Louisa Appel, Dale and Edith Black; his brother Harlan; and his sister-in-law LeEtta Appel.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Susan Lynn, Ryker, Kasen Appel of Shattuck, OK, MiKayla Appel, Kensey, Braylon and Kayleigh File of Amarillo, TX; his son Bryan Appel of Shattuck, OK; his daughter-in-law Nicole Appel; his daughter Susan Appel of Amarillo, TX; his grandson Blake Appel (MiKayla); his nephew Dustin Appel; his nephew Cody Appel (Kasey); his close friends, Sherman and Cheryl Lauder; his pet Lucy; and also, Emery of Houston, TX and Boland of Shreveport, LA.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Wednesday, March 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Woodward Faith United Methodist Church (1402 Texas Ave, Woodward, OK 73801).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Shattuck Meals on Wheels or the Woodward Faith United Methodist Church, a cause close to Waylen's heart.
