It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gene Herbel of Woodward, Oklahoma, born in Ellsworth, Kansas, who passed away on March 31, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Reinhart Herbel and Julia Herbel (Meier); his siblings, Everett Herbel and Julia Mae England; and his wives, Virginia Fritzler and Lena Buckley.
He is survived by: his children, Vicki (Fred Hanson), Mike (Judy Habekott), Steve Buckley, David (Ann Buckley), Charlene (Larry Duerr) and Diane (John Neher); his sister-in-law Vivian Herbel; and his nieces and nephews, Gary Bayless (Dixie), Kendall Bayless (Sue), JayDee, Carol Zahradnik, Vern, Joan Herbel, Terry, Susan Hubbs and Jenise Mick. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
