He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Eugene "Smooth" Vernon and Meady Mae Vernon (Nipp); his sister Connie King; his nephews, Chris Hayes, Cody Ponder and Brad King; and his cousin James Goode.
He is survived by: his children, Mindy Robinson, Greg Piper of Lone Grove, Dillon Vernon of Wilson, Caleb Vernon (Mikayla) of Lone Grove and Candace Barella of Roswell, NM; his siblings, Debbie Hayes (James) of Ardmore, Danell Bray (Danny) of Wilson, Denise Voyles (Billy) of Wink, TX, David Vernon (Lois) of Wilson, Dale Vernon (Judy) of Wilson and Dennis Vernon (Kathryn) of Wilson; his brother-in-law Clifford King of Lone Grove; his close friend Lou Fincher; his grandchildren, Cooper (Parker Robinson), Corbin Dean, Camdyn (Landree Vernon), Chase Vernon (Raelyn Mitchell), Raylynn and Donivon (Jenelle Buechner); and his close friends, Sharon Sue Stewart and Kathy Epley (DeMorjian).
