He was predeceased by: his parents, Rhude A. Scism and Oza Scism (Mallett); his wife Peggy Colleen Scism (Coursey); his brother Lee Scism; and his granddaughter Jessica Rutherford Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Sherri Rutherford Franks (Roger) of Garland, Janet Bell (Jim) of Edmond and Dale Scism (Penny) of Wewoka; his grandchildren, Kelli Cunningham (Tom), Hayley Chitwood (Scott), Garrett Elesner, Cortney Scism, Leah, Matt Wittner and Kevin Thompson; and his close friend Jean Ligon.
