Geraldine (Thacker) Veal Obituary
We are sad to announce that on September 17, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Geraldine Veal (Weatherford, Oklahoma).
Graveside services for Geraldine (Thacker) Veal, 85 year old Weatherford resident, will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Van Dyke Cemetery with Sid Killman officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Geraldine was born May 30, 1936 in Weatherford to Gordon Thacker, Sr. and Clarice (Clayton) Thacker and passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 in Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford. Geraldine was raised and attended school in Weatherford. She married the love of her life, Donald Veal on March 24, 1954 and they made their home in Enid. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Eddie and Donnie. Geraldine and Donald moved to Corn in 1957 where they owned and operated Veal’s Locker Plant for 16 years. They moved to Fort Cobb Lake in 1975 where they owned and operated Crows Roost for 7 years. Many good memories were made at Fort Cobb Lake. After Donald’s death, Geraldine eventually moved back to Weatherford.
Geraldine enjoyed baking, collecting dolls, puzzles, stitchwork and most of all being with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family endlessly. She never failed to send a yearly birthday card to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These birthday cards were full of handwritten messages and expressions of love. She was an excellent cook and always made sure everyone had their favorite dessert at family gatherings. Her memory will live on through the baby blankets she stitched for every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the hundreds of handwritten recipes that she gifted to her granddaughters, and the nicknames she lovingly gave her grandchildren.
Geraldine is survived by two sons, Eddie Veal and wife, Sheryl of Clinton and Donnie Veal of Weatherford; one brother, Gordon Thacker, Jr of Weatherford; three grandchildren, Jeannie, Josh and Jenae; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Peyton, Braden, Jessica, Cambria and Laney Jo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Tommie Joe and Don; and two sisters, Donna and Beulah Mae.
Geraldine had a huge heart and was very special to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
