He was predeceased by: his brothers, George Noteware and Wayne Monk; his adoptive parents, George Noteware, Trudy Noteware and Marie Noteware; and his brother-in-law Duaine McGee.

He is survived by: his wife Darliene Garren; his children, Amanda Ann Stillwell (William) of Weatherford, Stephen Douglas Boyd (Kimberly Ann) of Tuttle, Jeremy Douglas Garren (Lindie) of Oklahoma City and Joshua Lee Garren (Anarose) of Oklahoma City; and his siblings, Mark Noteware (Cecelia) of Shawnee, Michael Monk (Charlene) of Coleman, Ala, Nancy McGee of Weatherford, Michelle Bishop (Dick) of Shawnee and Sue Stuckey (Jerry) of Madill. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Lions Service Foundation.

“Just found out today my old buddy passed away 10/10/2023. I knew Doug in the early 80s in Franklin Ky. He was the manager of the first and only Sonic in Franklin, it's still open. We used to hunt Indian artifacts together, hunt, and fish, plus worked together at Kendal Company in Franklin, ky. I remember Jeremy as a little baby. Doug moved back to Oklahoma just before he was born. Recon it was the early 80s the last time I seen him. Many fun memories of a fine man. Semper Fi my brother. RIP.”
