He was predeceased by: his parents, Niles Tompkins and Grace Tompkins (McCoy); his son Leslie Hood, Jr.; his brother Edwin Tompkins; and his son-in-law Jim Gillum.
He is survived by: his wife Penny; his children, William Ernest Tompkins, Jr. (Diane) of Athens, Catherine Thompson of Enid, Sharon Zimney (Brian) of Illinois, Patty Carras of Coxsackie, Julie VanAlphen (Michael) of Ancram, Lori Ribenburgh (Edward) of Claremore, Robyn Gillum, Jim, Jeffrey Edward Carver (Chasity) of Enid and Candee Nair-Cameron (Robert) of Claremore, Oklahoma; and his brothers, Thomas Tompkins (Mary Ann) of Athens and Lynn Tompkins of South Carolina. He is also survived by numerous grandkids.
