He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edwards and Johnnie Edwards (Long); his former wife Kimiko; and his siblings, John Edwards, Jack Edwards, Donald Edwards, Jim Edwards, Toby Edwards, Maydene "Dinger" Hansen, Charlene "Choddie" Ownby and Annabelle Emerson.
He is survived by: his wife Tokiko Edwards; his children, Yumi Connie Trujillo (Gene) and James David Edwards (Faye) of Hayward; his siblings, Harry Edwards of Vinita, George Edwards of Tennessee and Lucky Edwards of Arizona; his grandsons, James and Michael Lugo; and his great grandchild David Gene Lugo. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
