He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Applen and Bessie Elizabeth Towne Applen; and his siblings, Helen, Ruthie, Arlene, Shirley and Raymond.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille Marie Applen; his daughters, Shirley Ray, Wanda Garrett, Alona Fields, Elizabeth Gibbons, Jodie Richardson and Shannon Cramer; and also, Jerry Ray, Rick Garrett, Charles Fields, Charles Gibbons, Jack Richardson and Jack Cramer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
