He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Nadine Cox and William Jared Cox; and his wife Virginia Ann Cox. He is survived by: his sister Theda Dougherty; his stepchildren, Stephen David Jernigan, Wendy Williams and Mary Pettit; his grandchildren, Daegen Upshaw, Brendan Upshaw, Connor Jernigan, Carissa Thulin and Solomon Jernigan; and his great grandchild Adeline Thulin.
