He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry "Otho" Slagle and Fannie Elizabeth Slagle (Shantz); his former wife Lavern Bachman; his son Phillip Slagle; and his son-in-law Glen Slabaugh.

He is survived by: his wife Roberta Stutzman; and his children, Keith Slagle (Esther) of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Marilyn Lind (Don) of Hutchinson, Marlene Springer (Ted) of Middlebury, Cheryl Slabaugh of Chandler and Charlene Leaman of Manheim, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
