He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Shaffer and Beadie Shaffer (Alexander); his son David Shaffer; his great grandchild Michael Burgess; and his brother Glenn Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Joann Shaffer; his son Paul Shaffer; his siblings, Winston Shaffer (Joyce) of Claremore, OK and Jean Jones of Ardmore, OK; his sister-in-law Beverly Shaffer of Marietta; his grandchildren, Neal Shaffer (Leslie) of Callisburg, TX and Joann Burgess of Callisburg; and his great grandchildren, Britni, Neal Jr., Dakota, Wyatt and Christopher. He is also survived by four great-great-grandchildren.
