Russell Smith Obituary
Russell Dale Smith was born on August 30, 1963 in Long Beach, California to Bennie and Louella Smith. Russell was one of nine children. He grew up in Fontana, California where he found his passion of playing sports such as baseball and football, he was a natural sportsman. Russell lived in Texas and Arkansas before finding his home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Russell was a great man who had a heart of gold. He would help anyone he could. After the passing of his father, Russell stepped up and became the rock of the family caring for his mother. He was a great provider, protector, and the glue that held the family together. Russell was proud of his Native American Heritage and honored it with great pride. He was an avid sports fan although Los Angeles Dodgers’ and Los Angeles Lakers held a special place in his heart. He was employed with the Cherokee Nation at the time of his passing. He was a jack of all trades and could do just about anything. Russell was known for his kind heart, his love of Dr. Pepper, and his nonsensical rambling, most of the time talking to himself while he was working.
On April 29, 2019 he married his wife Tiffany Bales in Independence, Missouri.
He always tried to show some type of act of love and kindness to all those he knew and cared about. Russell loved being around his whole family every chance he got.
Russell departed this life on December 4, 2021 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 58. He is preceded in death by his father Bennie Smith, grandmothers Carrie Candy Jones and Stacy Smith, Uncles Deertrack Jones and Jerry Jones, Aunt Eliza Bluebird, and nephew Christian Tyler Smith.
Russell is survived by his loving siblings Doris Moore of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Alan Smith and wife Claudia of Fontana, California, Aaron Smith of Kingman, Arizona; twenty one nieces and nephews and twenty seven great nieces and nephews. and his Wife Tiffany of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Russell’s service was held at Hart Funeral home on December 13th and he was laid to rest on December 16th at his final resting place in Greenleaf Cemetery.
