He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Max Peterson and Faye Iva Redford. He is survived by: his stepsister Charlotte King; his brother Larry Peterson; his nephew Larry August Peterson; his grandson Jerry James Winburn; his wife Molly McCoy Peterson (Student Union); his daughters, Polly Iva Brandt and Ellie Faye Vega; his grandchildren, Sarah Faye Winburn, Dominic McCoy Vega and Molly Isabel Vega Peterson; his children-in-law, Janine Peterson, Martin Vega and Carl Brandt; his sister-in-law Nancy Peterson; and his nephews, Leslie and Ron Peterson.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Activity Building. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Brigid Catholic Church (807 Crafton St, Tahlequah, OK 74464).
