He was predeceased by: his parents, Valentine Perez and Angelina M. Mares (Munana); his brother Valentine Victor Mares; and his daughter Melanie Mares. He is survived by: his wife Veronica Mares (Okamoto) of Sulphur, OK; his children, Selina Fish (Tray), Vincent Mares, Jonathan Mares and Michael Mares; his grandchild Tray Fish, Jr.; and his siblings, Richard Mares, Chris Castillio and Lucy Atkinson.
