He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Sanders and Opal Sanders (Hill); his wife Pat Sanders; his granddaughter Brandi Shoemake; and his sisters, Ruby Sanders and Wanda Bierman.

He is survived by: his children, Chip Sanders and Tena Caton (Curtis); his granddaughter Ashley Caton; his great grandchildren, David Caton and Sophie Caton; and his sisters, Ruth Ann Ward and Carolyn Sue Newnam. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and several friends.
