He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Pendley and Vinia Pendley; his former wife Esther Pendley (Kriete); his wife Susie Pendley (Cole); and his siblings, Juanita Pendley, Mary Mitchell, Helen Rhinehart, Christine Musgrave, Bill Pendley and Steve Pendley.

He is survived by: his sons, John Pendley Jr. (Marsha) and Jim Pendley (Jeanette); and his grandchildren, Ami Noble (Aaron), Sarah Hughes (David), Paul Pendley (Glenna), Jerry Pendley, Jimmy Pendley (Katie) and Jessica Pendley. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
