She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Helen "Otema" Smelser (Hickman) and Dennis Smelser. She is survived by: her sons, Marshal Hurst (Heather) and Nathaniel Hurst (Amelia); her grandchildren, Hannah, Kenzie, Marlee, Ezekiel, Matthew and Hope Hurst; and her sister Fawn Hicks.
