She was predeceased by: her former husband Luther Brown; her parents, A. G. McGowan and Julia Mae McGowan; her siblings, William Stanfield, Margret Lee, Rosie Bell and Evetta Ann Benson; and her godchildren, Kenisha Brown and Robert Joe James III.
She is survived by: her former husband Samuel Carter; her husband Emmanuel Allen of Oklahoma City, OK; her daughters, Julia Carter of Oklahoma City, OK, Ma'Star Wright (Tim) of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Brown of Oklahoma City, OK, Bernita Brown of Oklahoma City, OK and Aariqa Allen of Lincoln, NE; and her siblings, Henry McGowan of Grandfield, OK, Debra Anderson of Lawton, OK and Diane Harris of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by God children, and nieces and nephews.
