He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertle Garrett and Marion Garrett (McCallum); and his sisters, Nancy Eads and Susan Hoyle. He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his son Aaron Garrett (Tonya) of Tahlequah; his siblings, Jim Garrett (Sandy) of Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Blevins of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Sally Pierce (Ron) of Nebraska City, Nebraska; and his grandchildren, Zack Garrett (Rebekah) of Oklahoma City and Sarah Garrett of Tahlequah, Oklahoma..

The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers that loved ones make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project in his remembrance.

“I was so sorry to hear about Dave. As one of his younger cousins I remember Dave always watching out for my brother and I. No one ever got away with picking on us! I also remember Dave teaching me roller skating moves. He was such a good roller skater! So many great memories of the summer parties at grandma McCallum’s house as kids.
